The New York City affiliate focuses its efforts on providing families and children with programs and services surrounding child welfare, elementary and early childhood education. With a large number of families that are African American and of African descent in the city, two of the affiliate's primary concerns is increasing the number of available child care slots and ensuring young children receive a quality education. The New York affiliate addresses its concerns through data collection, monitoring city and state policies related to early childhood education, collaborations with faith-based communities and holding community forums throughout the various boroughs.
