Educators
of young children in
community and
school-based early
education programs
frequently identify
healthy social and
emotional development
as one of the most
important indicators
of school readiness
and later school
success.
As the children
and families entering
their programs become
increasingly diverse
– from a wide array
of ethnic, cultural,
linguistic, and life
experience
backgrounds, educators
face greater
challenges.
An elementary
school principal,
researcher, and
physician will share
their perspectives on
how culture and life
experience impact
social and emotional
development and
effective strategies
for addressing these
issues.
