Position:                         Deputy Director for Early Childhood Services/Head Start

Hours:                            37.5 hrs/wk, 52 wks/yr

Salary Range/Grade:    DOE

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

·         Manage program and fiscal ($13 M) operations of the Early Childhood Services Division and oversee delegate and partner agencies in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, and other applicable state and federal regulations.

·         Ensure that comprehensive, high quality early childhood services are delivered to eligible children and their families through the establishment of effective partnerships and collaborations.

·         Participate in community, state, and national networks dedicated to the improvement of early childhood services and programs

·         Implement effective ongoing monitoring of program operations with a focus on staff development and on continuous quality improvement, and conduct a comprehensive program annual self-assessment.

·         Ensure the active involvement of the Head Start Policy Council in policy development, program planning, and fiscal matters; and assure that parents are actively involved within the program

·         Ensure systematic adherence to program guidelines with regard to Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance

 

Qualifications/Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Early Childhood Education, Education, Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or related fields

·         Five years experience in a management capacity in Head Start or Early Childhood, Education, or Human Services

·         Three years experience supervising senior management staff

·         Demonstrated experience in planning, budgeting and program evaluation

·         Previous experience working with low-income children/families

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the effective communication with diverse audiences

·         Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding early childhood services and development
