BCDI-Albany in the Community
BCDI-Albany is working to improve the quality of life for Black children and families through a variety of programs, including:
Entering The College Zone. This event is for both students and parents and is held on one of the local college campuses. The one-day conference held annually, includes workshops on making a high school plan, financing your college education and meeting college representatives.
Middle & High School Mentoring Programs. The program serves as a support system and a resource for students with the end goal of maximizing their potential in their educational and community settings.
Early Childhood Literacy Project. The program focuses on early literacy programs designed to assist parents with innovative reading project to improve reading outcomes. BCDI members team up with parents and community child care workers to enhance early childhood literacy skills.
Community forums are held such as: violence prevention, nutrition, community violence, mental wellness, etc. throughout the Tri-City that address salient issues that impact black child development.
