BCDI-Albany Distributes Nearly 1,000 "At the Farmer's Market" Books to Pre-K Students
In 2016, the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), Too Small to Fail, Gerber, Scholastic, and other partners committed to distribute 100,000 copies of Scholastic's bilingual nutrition-themed children's book entitled, "At the Farmers Market," and supplemental tip sheet to children and families nationwide. These books included customized messages on the back cover to help families engage in language-rich interactions about food. Many of the books were distributed through NBCDI's National Affiliate Network, including BCDI-Albany.
As part of their ongoing work to help children throughout the City School District of Albany develop into strong readers making positive life choices, BCDI-Albany recently donated a copy of “At the Farmer’s Market” to each of the nearly 1,000 prekindergarten students that the district serves.
