Events & Programs

Developed by the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), NBCDI’s Read to Succeed program is designed to promote early literacy and language development by supporting families with children between birth and eight years old to establish home libraries with culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate children’s books and providing them with supplementary resources through our National Affiliate Network, including BCDI-Fort Lauderdale.

Good For Me engages children three to five years old in healthy eating and physical activity by introducing them to a diverse range of fruits and vegetables, hands-on activities and active play.  The ultimate goal is to improve children’s nutrition and health outcomes by providing a research and evidence-based curriculum that connects to and is reflective of our their families, cultures and communities.

Groomed to Read is an initiative that encourages young African American boys to increase reading time outside of school.
