NBCDI Virtual Learning Series Resources

January Virtual Learning Series

NBCDI was joined by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Drive Agency, and Sesame Street in Communities in an engaging webinar aimed at unraveling the profound influence of societal narratives on Black children and families. Throughout this session we discussed the intricate impact of prevalent narratives on shaping Black children’s experiences, perceptions, and opportunities while also scrutinizing how these narratives steer societal attitudes and policies.

This webinar aims to spark meaningful conversations, inspire actionable change, and encourage collaborative efforts among stakeholders to create environments that prioritize the well-being of Black children and families.

Promoting Black Joy through Fun & Safe Digital Engagement

NBCDI has partnered with Google to curate a list of approved Google Play Store apps. In particular, the collection of apps are designed to help build kids’ sense of confidence, inclusion, and belonging. Children can find creative ways to learn and express themselves, affirming who they are and can be, while learning about influential Black figures throughout history. The activities featured in these apps also have special focus on family engagement, encouraging parents and other loved ones to play and learn along with their kids! Each app is connected to one of NBCDI Eight Essential Outcomes. During a special webinar, NBCDI had a discussion with Google and YouTube Kids about fun and safe digital engagement!

Creating Healthier Futures: Prioritizing Black Children’s Health and Nutrition Pre-birth and Beyond

NBCDI hosted an informative and engaging webinar with BCDI-Colorado and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to discuss nutrition and maternal and infant mortality in Black communities. BCDI-Colorado shared insights from a community doula and local efforts to address health challenges and disparities among Black moms and babies. They also provided a healthy cooking tutorial and recipe book to promote healthy eating habits and destigmatize food for Black children. CACFP provided nutrition resources for the whole family.
