Atlanta, GA — JUNE 2025 — The National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) announces the NBCDI National Conference 2025: Infinite Possibilities. Tangible Realities., happening October 24–26, 2025, at the Signia by Hilton Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
This high-impact convening will bring together thousands of educators, advocates, policymakers, researchers, and families to design systems that support Black children’s brilliance, safety, and joy. Rooted in Afrofuturism and justice, the conference creates space for radical imagination, practical strategy, and collective action. With sessions spanning early childhood education, family wellness, environmental justice, AI and digital safety, cultural identity, and policy change, the conference positions NBCDI’s work at the intersection of legacy and innovation.
In a moment of deep national division, NBCDI calls us to build forward. Even amid political uncertainty, we remain grounded in cultural pride and powered by community resilience. This conference is a declaration: the future of Black children is bright, infinite, and ours to shape.

Book, Toy & Media Awards Debut
NBCDI will also host its Inaugural Book, Toy & Media Awards on Saturday, October 25—a powerful celebration of creativity, representation, and play. Featuring keynote remarks by #1 New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds, the awards will spotlight the books, toys, games, and digital media that reflect the diversity, beauty, and brilliance of Black children. In a cultural climate that is increasingly hostile to inclusive representation, this joyful event is a reminder: stories matter, and so do the storytellers. The Awards will celebrate trailblazers including U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, toy innovator Dr. Lisa Williams, award-winning author Jacqueline Woodson, and visionary media creators Ralph Farquhar, Bruce W. Smith, and Makeda Mays Green.
