National Black Child Development Week

National Black Child Development Week (NBCDW) is a celebration of the brilliance, creativity, and power of Black children. From June 9 to 13, 2025, NBCDI will highlight its Afrofuturist Systems Design Process—centering Black children in every decision and design. Under this year’s theme, “Afrofuturism: The Future Looks Like Us,” NBCDI will share a toolkit and animated explainer, spotlight Village classrooms, amplify child voices through multimedia storytelling, and expand awareness of systems change work. NBCDW affirms that Black children belong at the center of every system and offers a pathway to reimagine the future with love, equity, and creativity.
